Brian came to Bainbridge Island in 1996 after selling his 50 cow dairy farm In Wisconsin. With farming in his blood he started working for the Kitsap Conservation District where he writes farm plans for the Kitsap Peninsula. In 2011 he wrote the farm plan for Heyday Farm. That is when the adventure began.
Soon after the farm was up and running Brian was asked to bring his expertise to the project and he took on being their farm manager. Fast Forward to January 1, 2022 and Brian is marrying Penny and on the same day they are signing the documents for the purchase of the McDonald Ave. side of Heyday Farm. Penny has been on Bainbridge since 1995 and raised her 6 children here. She brings a love for animals and the land and it is a dream come true to live on a farm! Brian and Penny, loving the history of this farm land, decided to go back to its original name, Winney Farm.
“So many great stories and history of the Winney Family are here.” Brian and Penny raise steer, chickens, turkeys, pigs, and lambs for food. “It matters where your food comes and we are proud to be the only Bainbridge Island Farm selling USDA pasture raised meat.”
